An Uphill Climb

I love the feeling

Of the unexpected cold breeze

As you hike through the heat

And up the side of the hill.

I huff and puff and my heart pounds in my chest

But I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I love singing at the top of my lungs

With the windows rolled down

With my friends by my side

As we take the back roads

To make it all last just a little longer.

To spend to long

In a state of settling

And to suddenly be pulled out

Is the relief I didn’t even know I needed.
